Week #2 Recap

Week 2 went swimmingly. USC failed to cover the spread, as well as Stanford. Great.

Record: 2-4-0
Format: W-L-T

I've decided to remove the Pass number because it is clear to me that I will do a lot more "passing" than making decisions. Also, my teammate and comrade W. has currently abandoned me. I'll be doing work to get him back on the team.

Ok so what happened? USC started a true freshman on the road at night against a top ten team with a legacy of strong defensive play. Result: Two touchdowns, one set up from a INT return to the five yard line.

Their defense held Ohio State to one touchdown and two fieldgoals Very close game, very good game, USC barely won. USC failed to cover the 8 point spread.

Stanford had a 17-3 halftime lead but let it slip away and lost 24-17. Not sure what happened there, as I didn't watch the game.

Week #2 Preview Part 1

My assignment, as decided by the high council, is to preview games #1, #5, #6, and #7.

Game#1: WAKE FOREST (2.5) vs. Stanford

To begin by analyzing Stanford, Stanford won last week AT Washington State. Thats big. Winning a road game already (39-13 no less) is important. Stanford's rushing defense also seems stout, stopping Washington State on a 1st and goal from the 1 last week. Thats impressive.

Wake Forest returns their entire offensive line from last season and has a senior quarterback. They played terribly last week and will likely bounce back. Two consecutive homegames for Wake Forest.

Lastly, I read many comments about the size of Stanfords linemen and team in general. I think the smallest player on offense is 200+ pounds. Stanford has size and physicality.

Regression to the mean: Wake Forest struggled last weak and this week they will emphasize their mistakes in practice and should return to form. I read that Stanfords passing D was lit up last week, but hard to imagine that since they only gave up 13 points.

Sagarin Ratings: Stanford 76.18, Wake Forest 73.96

Location: At Wake Forest, Noon kickoff. May affect the West Coast boys.

My prediction? No clue!
